Tribulation 99 is a pretty entertaining found footage mockumentary of the cold war as told via conspiracy theory and 50s scifi clips.

I saw it in theaters but was shocked it didn't get a single ad or commercial. Brilliant film. Easily one of the worst marketed films ever.

My beef with the marketing is the TV advertising has been showing punchlines but not really explaining WHY it's going to be awesome. The trailers manage to.

Yet the Transformers movies make big bucks so I'm not sure it's a bad comparison, other than Transformers is a childhood franchise. People still went, I'm hopeful.
