I agree completely. Streep has enormous clout, and she’s been married w/ kids for like forever. She’s just not in the position for a studio executive to subject her to those kinds of manipulations. I can believe she didn’t know. She predates him and had her own clout before he appeared on the scene. She didn’t need anything from him, so he had nothing to coerce her with.

I will never understand the, “you have no right to blow up someone else’s marriage” thing. She has every right to tell anyone she damn well pleases. He lied to her and if he’s not lying to his wife (and putting her in danger of STDs when she thinks she’s in a monogamous relationship) than it shouldn’t blow up…

I mean, if they were having unprotected sex she should tell Mrs. Hole. Because if he’s cheating with you he’s gonna fill that void when you’re gone and he’s non-consensually risking her health.

Alternatively, perhaps she has her suspicions, but her darling hubby is gaslighting her and she feels like she’s going crazy and proof would be really validating and empowering for her. :/

Sounds more like you’d be telling her for your sake than hers. When in reality it’s not about you anymore.

I guess having been through it I feel more confident in saying she probably already knows and is choosing not to face it right yet for whatever conscious and unconscious reasons. It’s not always better to find out sooner.

Yup! It seems likely she will know or he will leave at some point. And this is not an affair where I have sympathy for him, he seems very selfish, tricky and manipulative so he may have more partners, or will, and the wife may not be aware of his true character at all.
