I’m really confused. The student was in gym class, right? So the student must use one of the two locker rooms during gym class, right? So how was it not immediately clear that the student should take shelter in whatever locker room they normally use?

Except his vote yes meant nothing in terms of whether Kavanaugh got confirmed or not. Had he voted no Pence would have simply cast the tie-breaking vote. Or they would’ve made that one Senator miss his daughter’s wedding. Either way, a no vote from Manchin wasn’t stopping it.
