Glad you asked. It’s not in the Quran; it’s in the Sunnah, which is secondary source of islamic law. While some conservative schools of thought are split on the matter (some deem it disliked but not sinful, some say it would be a sin to swallow as its not halal to eat), here’s a good mainstream opinion by a prominent

A ton of Republicans on Snapchat for one. And the young millennial conservatives who watch MTV.

Actually, there’s been a freaking ton of anti-Muslim tirades, on here, on Jez, on Splinter, and elsewhere. Anytime middle east comes up there’s a flood of bigoted comments. Maybe you don’t notice them because you’re not the one being attacked.

Most of them live in cities or clustered in a few states. While nearly half the American Muslim population is black, about half of Americans have reported in surveys they haven’t met one.

What a fool.

This again? The Nobel Committe said they awarded him the 2009 prize for withdrawing troops from Iraq, for his Cairo speech to the Muslim World, and his push for total nuclear disarmament at the UN Security Council.

Fat embolism is a known risk from liposuction surgery, it’s in the consent form. He shouldn’t be blaming the doctor here, as this would happen with any surgeon doing lipo.

So they admit there’s video? Reporters should be filing requests for it yesterday.

And yet this is the guy who claimed he wanted to make the government more “Christian.”

It’s definitely a more and more worrisome time to be a Muslim in America. Especially as a major political party and news channel is defending the legality of withholding the First Amendment for one specific religion and demanding maximum rights for the other.

Leave them in the grays, don’t even bother screenshotting them because you’re letting their drek get a loudspeaker.

The answer is pretty much none. Even alcohol on a doctor’s breath prompts an investigation.

It’s less of a “white people welfare” thing than a “rich Republican stealing from the poor” thing. We’d get a lot more people on our side fighting this if we kept it in that frame, otherwise a lot of white people will knee-jerk react and shut down the conversation if you use the former.

Close. They want morons in charge of Dept of Ed and EPA because they want those departments to collapse. They (claim to) worship veterans, so they can’t let this one openly fail the same way (although they want to privatize the whole thing).

Obviously they don’t, given how untouched Goodreads was.

Political parties should not be a Zero-sum game and the Constitution was not written that way either. The system was not supposed be a two-party-only one, and it creates many of the problems we see today. More parties!

Regardless of whether the ideas are good or not, we NEED more political parties. The Constitution was not written to take parties into account, and the electoral system shows it. Some states are looking into Ranked-Choice Voting (Maine passed it), which should be the case everywhere. I don’t like being pigeonholed

I’m talking about longer term. The millennials and youth vote is sharply tilting towards Democrats. The only reliable base of Republicans are retirement-age, and when they go the Republican party will have a serious problem of being outnumbered. They could fix this in many ways, and in the past they have tried to

Now playing

Since so many people are completely missing the point or strawmanning Hari, I recommend watching the actual video he made. It’s funny and thought-provoking.
