I could no more explain what “real racism” is to a black person than you can know what it feels like to be accused of trying to do that when it’s not the case. These are the times we now live in.

Is he? I never heard of him.
No one is trying to “excuse” anything. Just pointing out that context and intent matters. Also, I think people are becoming too eager to equate being naive, uninformed, ill-informed or ignorant with being racist.
Wasn’t there only 3 years difference in their ages?
The zero tolerance comes from zero context. Who gets offended when the entire context makes it clear that the offensive thing is offensive and isn’t acceptable behavior?
His bigotry was never presented as being acceptable or desirable. He was always shown as being an angry backwards-thinking idiot who was unable to function socially in a modern setting.
People don’t consider context at all anymore. So you can have a show that is completely presenting a subject in the worst possible light—completely denouncing it and showing how it is offensive—but the show will be dragged for even bringing up the subject at all.
That doesn’t change what I said--she can still make another print. Hell, she could sell the second print instead.
I was sort of surprised and disappointed in how little concern the agents showed about their newer “recruits.” They didn’t even think about a way to pick up Enoch, and Deke had to save himself, apparently because not even his own grandmother was bothered enough to even leave the quinjet to look for him.
My mom owned a video rental store in that era...I saw American Anthem several times...usually late at night...after everyone else was sleeping.
Oh yeah....I had forgotten about Mitch. I haven’t watched much gymnastics since then...are the male gymnasts still as...talented?...as they were back then?
What I found interesting about it was the strange methodology, the small number of participants and the specificity of the findings based on the vagueness of the study. I wasn’t impressed or convinced by what I read.
I sometimes wonder if we’re watching the same show.
OK well thanks for being so off-putting in your response to someone who honestly would have liked a conversation and some actual useful answers to help me understand instead of a condescending remark which was clearly intended to put me in my place. When you wonder why it takes so long for people to come around to…
Does anyone here think that he meant any of the stuff he wrote? Do you seriously think that he did any of that shit or actually stands by any of it? (even at the time it was written)?
“Fight...” Uhhhh...yeah, that’s exactly what I was imagining them doing together...completely clothed and no jockstraps in sight.
I’m so sad now. Damn.
Gigi is non binary
I’m not convinced...how do you know that all of those “separate characters” are not different layers of Gigi? And even if they are not, why do they need to be? She’s a performer, and those characters are her performance. And she executed them extremely well. To me, that’s what she’s there for—to perform and to do it…
I don’t want Lawrence to move to San Fran because I like having him on the show.
