I really hate all the “And a child shall lead us!” that happens whenever a public tragedy happens involving a child. Adults want to ooh and ahh, but never change anything. Even in the cases where the children do pursue causes related to their tragedies, nothing changes. “Heroic” high school students have been fighting

Liberals only care about Black people when they can dehumanize them through martyrdom or tokenization, distancing themselves from the white supremacist heart of this country without ever having to threaten their own comfort or the power and privilege granted them by that white supremacy. Conservatives only care about

Thanks for this article. it is both gross and disappointing to see the ‘fanfictioning’ of a little girl’s grief. But I suppose I should only be surprised that I’m surprised at this point. I think everyone needs to realize how crushingly sad this photo really is. Not only does Gianna need to navigate her grief in a

Yikes I hadn’t thought about that either! Ugh I feel even worse now for her.

Thank you for writing so well about what rubbed me the wrong way about this picture.

If there is a God may they grant Gianna some semblance of a normal life, and may the media grant her privacy.

The parasocial delusions of so many liberals is absolutely ASTOUNDING to witness...

I am reminded of a story harkening back to the days when Walt Disney was still alive. Disney, though he had a closet full of Oscars for his animated shorts and live action documentaries, had never gotten a “major oscar,” his features having been passed over or, in the case of Snow White, given an honorary award in

I mean in my eye, expectations for turning a woman who wants to murder puppies for fashion into an anti-hero for a prequel were quite low. The only way to make this work would be to play into the inherent stupidity of the premise. Just treat her like a villain in Batman 66 and you could pull this off.

Reading this, you wonder if the issue isn’t her being miscast but misused.

I know I’m a broken record on this, but AV Club’s highlighting of this column (below another For Our Consideration) compared to that of Breihan’s action/superheroes/moneymakers (always page top) is a microcosm of the Hollywood dynamics for women and men as discussed.

SIDEBAR: Any Anna Faris fan who hasn’t seen Observe and Report REALLY needs to see Observe and Report.

I feel like you’re missing the point of why the movie was being pointed out for being sexually regressive.

Ana Faris was a revelation in Smiley Face and Observe and Report and I think she does feel out of place in more conventional roles like this. I can’t think of any contemporary comic actress who could play an out of control mess as well as her. I’d love love love to see her star in an Absolutely Fabulous style show

This is probably the most positive take I’ve ever heard about this movie, although I do recall people generally saying that Faris and Evans are pretty good (because how could they not be).

And then there’s the Family fucking Circus, bottom right corner, just waiting to suck.

Gadot literally didn’t bother saying “Palestine” or “Palestinians” in her message.

I mean if you make an album called “Daddy’s Home” that addresses the story of your Father, you are going to get questions about your relationship with your father.

Andy Daly’s a genius. Juggling all those distinct characters with their convoluted histories. “I haven’t spoken in a while!” (paraphrase) had me laughing my ass off. Great episode.

Other critics cite the massive amount of energy it takes to mine cryptocurrency, but according to the Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance, “always-on but inactive home devices in the USA” consume as much energy in a year as Bitcoin would in 1.7 years..
