It's only pretentious if there's a pretence. In this case, the work really is done by craftsmen who themselves would say 'chamfered'. So it's not.

Most TVRs were Ford-engined glassfibre specials that you could buy for shillings. And the firm lasted half a century. The Speed Twelve and the like were supercar bonkers, but everything else was cheap and cheerful.
