Rule of thumb #1: if your game ends with a character having a dream, your ending probably sucks. (I’ve seen one exception to this, and it made it clear the entire game was the protagonist’s dream as he dealt with survivor’s guilt.)

A crude game full of Satanic imagery, and it’s probably an extended metaphor for child abuse? Has anyone seen Edmund McMillen lately?

Is it just me, or is Smite getting closer and closer to Shin Megami Tensei’s turf?

I loved the manga’s character dynamics, but there was just so much goddamn filler. I’m hoping for tighter pacing this time around.

19 cents? Okay, you win, I’m trying Out There Somewhere, but this had better not show up in a Jim Sterling video.

I think “dudes” is probably the wrong guess for most of them. (Though Kanji does have his share of fanboys.)

The last time I locked up my bike so thieves couldn’t steal the frame or the wheels, they stole the seat. What’s left of it is now hanging on a wall in my parents’ garage.

I replayed Devil Survivor from the beginning to save the life of a character I didn’t even like, because if you don’t save him, you have to fight a boss who can attack from three squares away, and I kept getting my ass handed to me.

Um, what? I don’t get what that has to do with my comment.

So the end of this is “be nicer about buggy games” and not “don’t implement business practices that will ruin the health of your employees”? If I liked to see people destroy their bodies for my entertainment, I’d be reading Deadspin.

Kareem’s division between “indie” and “alt” gaming seems artificial to me. If Papo & Yo can become a critical darling, and Never Alone can get tons of hype, then I’m sure there’s room for the market to expand to cover even more experimental works.

We didn’t get Summer Memories, but we did get I Am Alive. I don’t suppose we could do some sort of trade?

If they still have Pratchett, I’m still on board. I was always into Overlord for the humor more than the clunky gameplay.

I’d just like to note for the record that there IS a Lakeview Cabin 1. It’s on Kongregate and Jayisgames.

But did you need to buy easier Fatalities?

I got my mother started with Princess Tutu. She also liked Tiger and Bunny. Trigun started out well, but it got too dark for her.

Fair warning: do NOT start someone with Paprika. It didn't work at all—he was hopelessly confused.

A second comment for a second writer: Fyfe’s article is just . . . ugly. It’s the same sort of logic that gets rape threats sent to women who supported GG, because apparently that’s turnabout for the rape threats against anti-GGers.

Hey, who’s Randi Harper?

I've been hoping to hear more feminists say what Cross is saying. I mostly hear it from really obnoxious anti-feminists, and I do NOT want to be on the same side as them.
