I saw a lot of people liking Suicide Squad, though. I’m the only one in my social circles to hate it, even though I liked BvS. Honestly, we should remember the reactions we see on internet sites could very well be the minority views, or at least just one half of the average. Trump got elected, after all.

The nation depends on large swaths of the country having sparse populations. Those areas are vital and they have very different needs than population centers. Those needs have to be balanced.

Here are all the R movies on the top 100 Domestic Gross adjusted for inflation (though not in the order they appear on the list):

It’s not irrational, it’s just a system that was designed to empower states instead of voters. The founders knew what they were doing: making damn sure rural states with large slave populations would have as much electoral muscle as industrial states. It’s the same deal today, minus the slavery. The system sucks

I find the Marvel films to be such light, forgettable, factory-assembled, by-the-numbers CGI bore fests, it’s nice to see a comic book film that looks like it might have a shred of pathos and actual stakes.

Is it possible for me to love HJ more than I already did? I guess so.

Maybe they looked at the race and realized there wasn’t a snowball’s chance in hell the Democrat would win and decided to wisely devote their resources elsewhere.

I bought the Blu-Ray Collection with the six films about 4-6 years ago at Best Buy for $50 how is this a deal? And it was the storybook-like collection with all the special features.

“There is a part of me that wants my kids to feel, at least in some relatively painless and abstract way, that the world is fucked.”

I didn’t realize your 3 and 5 year old were personally responsible for the state of the world but if you really feel like ruining their Christmas instead of doing anything proactive like, oh, I don’t know, contacting your senator or volunteering with an organization that’s actively affected by the state of things,

Please keep in mind, while the prior pope was forced to join the Hitler Youth and Luftwaffenhelfer, he fled/deserted and denounced Nazism.

Fair enough and agreed. :)

Of course, but that’s just the nature of casual sex, isn’t it? You can essentially use a man as a dildo without feeling comfortable getting “intimate” in other ways. Heck, there are plenty of people who don’t even like having sex with the lights on because it makes them feel vulnerable.

The MPAA was okay with the violence, but they really objected to that three-way sex scene where it looks like there might be rear-entry sex.

Or just get the fuck over your national squeamishness about boobs and take the bras off.

American movies need to stop having “graphic” sex scenes where the actress is inexplicably wearing a bra. Just avoid showing the boobs with camera angles or sheets or Austin Powers teapots. Bra sex is just stupid looking.

But conversation is the point. If were gonna make real change we have to change peoples minds. Now I’m not trying to make Klansman drop the hood to go protest housing discrimination. But how am I gonna get the white kid who grew up in the suburbs, and never had a black friend, to understand what being black in America

As a black man living in Indiana I’ve been trying to figure out how to strike the balance between loving and active. How do I call out people for their racist/sexist/homophobic/anti-semetic beliefs without shutting down any and all conversation? Because if you’re too aggressive people just get upset and ignore you,

This is 100% correct. Bill Clinton came from humble roots, but got out and had all the Ivy League education that makes them feel uncomfortable. Bill was smart and could turn on his Redneck switch and make ‘regular’ people want to be friends with him.

Hah. I mean, he comes across that he knows better because...he DOES know better. I’m a reasonably well-educated person, and I still 100% assume he’s smarter and better-informed than I am. Which...is a good thing!
