I would add that you should adjust your mirrors properly, as well. If you're looking down the side of your car when you look in the side mirrors, they're angled too far in. There should be minimal overlap between what you can see in the center mirror and the side mirrors.

The only thing many see in their mirrors are their own face or rear fenders.

I came here to post this. While they are very cool looking, they would have looked 10X more sinister without the lit up border. Did a quickie edit to the image in paint. It's sloppy, but it looks much better.
