He is alleged to have done so, and likely to at least be charged with obstruction of justice. Destroying your home security system and cell phone during the course of a criminal investigation related to your activities is textbook obstruction of justice.

No, the Fifth Amendment gives you the right to remain silent (including as a witness against yourself during a criminal trial). Not the right to destroy evidence and obstruct justice during a criminal investigation.
