I don’t think it was just need-to-know. I think it was a blend of that, keeping the command structure intact (pointing out that Poe was demoted and she’s in charge), displaying leadership (showing you’re in charge, not discussing with the committee).

Note: This post contains a spoiler for Star Wars: The Last Jedi after the video, so....

I think it comes down to marketing. I still have no idea what it’s about. Imagine someone who’s never even seen Bladerunner. “It’s about 2 dudes (Ryan McBoring and old Harrison Ford), cryptic dialogue, some sand, a flying car, and a giant Atari logo” -the tons of ads I’ve seen. And I don’t recall the ads ever

Seriously! I don’t even consider myself a GitS fan really, but I’ve seen both old animated movies, SAC (awesome!), Arise (which was just on Netflix couple of months ago) and an old TPB collection. “Oh, I think I probably saw the old movie at some point...” Some people ought to think about turning in their nerd

Ha, seriously! Thought I got tricked into clicking a Kotaku link again...

io9 back to spoilers on the front page? Between that, your lack of content and the ever-shifting front page (up/down/up/down), are you just trying to get rid of readers? Just curious. I’d like to tear the band-aid off early, if it’s all the same to you.

Question is...would they be making more money by using someone who knew how to make a good movie for all ages?

Soooo, what was the twist?

Surf Troopers? Smog Troopers?

Man, everybody knows about unpredictability. Your thing comes into somebody’s inbox after they’ve just gotten their ass chewed by their boss, immediate rejection. Your thing hits after somebody finds some money, your odds of a favorable response are higher.

This:

That’s one way to look at a codified constitution. The other is that uncodified rights - all of them basically - can be called into question every time parliament convenes...

Now playing

Well, to be fair, V:TM had its shot at live action, and it, uh, well, it does not disappoint...in being fucking horrible...

Gravity holds our atmosphere now, including evaporated water. Wouldn’t it just do that back then too?

So why is it believed Earth didn’t start out with water? Why would one space body be less likely to have water than another random space body? Wouldn’t the simplest explanation be more readily embraced without contrary evidence?

Agreed. I haven’t heard anything about it purporting to make you smarter. All I’ve heard/read is it *can* let you learn things more rapidly.

“You know what I remember about the “I’m a monster too” line? That it was not following her sterility.”

“Joss Whedon Bummed That Marvel Brought Agent Coulson Back From The Dead”...

Right? You would think in decades of his thought balloons and evil telepaths, especially Emma, either of us would’ve noticed them “being coy” about it... I mean, it’s their business if they want to retcon instead of write, but don’t insult your fans by pretending “we were doing it all along”.

Yeah, but we’ve both seen Bobby’s thoughts for decades in thought bubbles *and* he’s had plenty of contact with other telepaths that wanted to hurt his feelings, and more. That isn’t a level of insight we can compare with the real world. Retcons are just what passes for writing these days...
