Define “nude” because I am a Lost fanatic and there is literally no nude scene in any season of the show. It was a network show. If you define nude as being partially undressed than she had one scene in season four where she had underwear on with a buttoned up men’s dress shirt over it.  JFC.

I am outside of USA and I can tell any american movie revolving around race is simply boring. We just don’t have the same point of view on it and frankly we can see your passive-agressive race agendas miles away. Yes, even on “Black” movies. It is quite hard to find an american movie that does not have any race or

American movies compete with american movies in america.

Isn’t it just possible that the rest of the wrld isn’t particularly interested in the American “Black Experience”? People who work in this genre frequently think they are the Center of the Universe, that EVERYTHING ought to revolve around them. So now they are pouting that nobody especially cares.

Wait I’m confused as to why this is terrible practice?

And given what a lovely actress Ms. Lilly is, the fact that I don’t remember these scenes in the slightest makes me think they might not have been that integral to the plot.

My entire family is self-destructive and self-hating. They still advocate for themselves. They do so rarely and poorly (and angrily), but they do it. That’s why the word advocate is generally applied to people who advocate for others. It’s meaningless otherwise. You might as well call it volunteer work when you clean

I’m curious as to what it means to be an advocate for yourself. I mean, isn’t everybody?

Race relations in the United States are not the same as race relations elsewhere. Sorry to Bother You relies on a lot of pre-existing awareness about those race relations (e.g. Why does using a “white voice” vs a “black voice” matter? How does that even translate to an international audience that doesn’t speak English?

This is such a stupid argument. First off, the one making “assumptions” is you. The distributors are just making financially sound business decisions based on experiences selling films in the past. They’ve probably taken chances on culturally niche films and had them bite them in the ass in the past. You bring up

Still need an apology from the writers for that ending though.

Why is this racist? It just doesn’t sell as much as something else. Asian movies don’t do well in the US or Europe either. Are the Chinese bitching about racism? Don’t try to play the racism card every time things don’t go your way.

Does the movie speak to primarily American experiences? A movie about the black experience in America, or relying on that cultural cache, I could see not doing particularly well in China. THe experience just isn’t there and maybe therefore not the interest either.

It’s a little simplistic to say it’s not selling because countries outside the US are racist. A lot of Black American movies deal with situations that are fairy unique to Black Americans which makes its appeal even in America limited let alone outside the US. The ones that have done well are often the movies that

“Moonlight, for instance, earned most of its money overseas”....... but, not all? You noted two movies and only one was really successful. What investors would be encouraged by that? Listing more successes would bolster your argument. Interesting, if inadverdant, point you made about the United States..... maybe

it’s not surprising.
and your examples are not great - for every Moonlight there is a Get Out (Int. BO about half of domestic) and Black Panther is MCU.
As bad as general racist attitudes are in North America we often forget how racism manifests itself in other places in the world where racial diversity is often

Crichton writes like he’s creating the tie-in novelization of the film — even though he’s writing the novel first.

It’s a pretty faithful adaptation of the book, which is utter shit.

Since both Univision Video-On-Demand (fusionvod-a.akamaized.net and anvato.net/vod/* — which are a misnomer, they should really be labeled Coerced Videos) and JWPlayer scripts are blocked, there’s only a blank space in the article.
