Projection though carries a long time though in people's lives when the issues weigh heavily. I myself used to get shoved around thanks to wearing glasses before it was hip. Then I put one of my aggressor's heads through a gym locker. Never had a problem with him or anyone else ever again on that level.

The thing about moderates though is they tend to be better educated; i.e. They do their homework on candidates. They don't just tow the party line blindly.
