How do you separate the gender of this person from their attack? Maybe it still would have happened had it been a male MP, but it’s ignorant to pretend that there probably wasn’t an element of misogyny involved in this, like “how dare a stupid woman decide who gets into MY country.”
To ignore her gender in this is like ignoring race in hate crimes. Where there is a violent attack against a woman in power, there is violent misogyny, the end.
You should take it personally, because you are a person, and they are not seeing you when they discuss this issue. It’s not your job to educate them, though. It’s your job to keep being awesome and making the UK better just by being here.
Britain First is our most right-wing, anti-immigrant, pro-England (aka white English people) party right now. To them anyone against jingoism and colonialism is anti-British.
I hear you. I live in a midlands Labour stronghold and this fucking punched me in the gut.
I feel like her publicist or something who really didn’t give 2 fucks wrote this, which is quite a feat.
Really great interview, Jia. Thanks to Anon for sharing her story with us.
It was an era of glamour. Full of glamorous animals, glamorously wandering the streets while glamorously mauling the unglamorous.
Wait, they have lions? Edgy lions?
I gotchoo *AGGRESSIVE WINK AND BACK AWAY*
You tickled my heart strings with that one, fyi. Care to see my attic? *exaggerated wink, nod and horn noise*
I was polite to you before, but now you’re wandering into some weird shit and I’m not here to educate you. If you can’t catch why it’s important to support victims (or in your case ‘supposed’ victims) and you’re not getting why people would think you’re a man or an MRA for your opinions, then I’m not sure why you’re…
But it’s so much easier to pretend that women/domestic violence victims are sadistic liars capable of anything?...
No one is saying that women can’t be abusive, but it is very typical in abusive relationships for the perpetrator to pretend to be the victim. It’s been studied, it’s called D.A.R.V.O. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/DARVO
Cool, well you and Doug can go hang out and worry about the details of what is/isn’t domestic abuse.
Yes, it does. Get your anger under control and learn to fight. It’s tough, but it’s doable.
DARVO is a hell of a drug...
Really? Outrageous and violent behaviour during an argument with your isn’t domestic violence to you? That makes me feel really sad that you think that’s not abusive behaviour.
