You've got a point. Every app developer will be pissed because their 'HD' apps will piss off users because noobs will think they are in the higher resolution. It'll create a stink, and Apple will probably require people to remove the HD off their apps that don't conform to the new resolution.

iPadHD makes sense. It gives them the opportunity to raise the base price and not detract from the iPad 2 sales and the $499 base model price. If you want HD you're going to pay more. I'll be shocked if the new iPad still enters the market at $499.
