AND support the military. I absolutely support the US Military (not the Ruskie military like Trump does) but it is clearly a socialist organization, what with its single payer medical system and free housing, and (it’s true!—>) they negotiate every single purchase among vendors.

They’re using coal miners as a prop to justify massive support of the oil & gas industry, which is where the money is.

I’m tired of hearing people blame the democrats for not coming up with a message or whatever. The reality is red counties and states stopped listening to logic years ago. Newscorp just keeps cranking up the volume on their message and no matter how ridiculous they get, flag waving rednecks eat it up. FFS they’re

The Democrats did come up with several plans, and they were all blocked by ol’ turtleface McConnell.

That and the coal industry is striving to either have machines replace coal workers, or do stripmining which requires far fewer coal workers - and Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan are completely OK with that.

Your dad gives me hope for rural America.

One star isn’t enough for this comment. One of the more touching and thoughtful comments I’ve read in a while. Thank you for sharing.

Oliver did the simple math on it:
Why pay a workforce of over 5o people 90k per year, when you can just get ten and robots to do the same job?

Nope The Tea Party was formed cause we had a President who wore a tan suit with black skin.

Thank you for the insight!

the same party that is willing to do whatever they can to prop up a dying and obsolete industry.

I hope a little perspective from a current Wolfe County resident would be appreciated.

In fairness, that’s not really a view espoused by anyone who would have called themselves a “Republican” before Trump came along.

Now playing

My family is from War Creek, KY, right in Breathitt County. My dad remembers riding a mule to get to his grandfather’s house, while his folks had to walk on the unpaved and undrivable road. We had shiners and revenuers both in the family, but the family reunion was an armistice, since the organizer is a tee-totaling

Never underestimate the hypocrisy of the GOP and its constituents.

I mean, this whole thing might sound pathetic to a lot of people, or it might be fodder for think pieces to other people.

Never understood how the party that rails against anything that may be perceived as “socialism” and says capitalism is our savior is the same party that is willing to do whatever they can to prop up a dying and obsolete industry.

A professional wrestler in a high school gym in rural Kentucky is better informed than our president.

I'd nominate James Caan.
