Nintendo have been messing with that idea for ages though. The N64 expansion pack like you mentioned, but also DSi/New 3DS exclusive/improved games, or 3DS games requiring the Circle Pro. This is nothing new for them.
It can output to it, but it can’t play on there, and the Switch can’t do screen mirroring (probably not powerful enough).
Firstly, we’re talking a very different thing between a whole console and some indie games that few will end up buying. Also a vastly different price situation and the opposite effect on people, so its not really comparable.
Well if they blindly buy a game without reading the details on the eShop or on the box if this ever applies to retail titles, or without knowing anything about it, then finding out this is a touchscreen game and thus can’t be played on the TV but they can still play it, they might be annoyed but probably more at…
Even then, so what? They can still play it, and we’re talking smaller indie games anyway.
From what I’ve seen, startups don’t seem to have any consistent competence in hiring anyone other than software developers.
