I believe cosmetic changes don’t count against the budget. So if you built a fire truck body kit and put it on a $500 Geo Metro (which would probably make it the most expensive Geo Metro in existence today) I think you’d still technically be okay, even though you spent way more than $500 in reality.

The rabbit/cabrio base car is a used, existing LeMons car from Texas and the bus is theme, so it does not count towards the budget.

Of this is for Lemons racing, they need to see if any of the old engines from VW Racing programs that were shut down are available. Current version looks like a hoot, 600+ HP would be downright scary... and you could claim the engine as leftover salvage....(it would have just been thrown away...etc)
