Probably because the battery pack necessary to do that would weigh over 1000 pounds, making it impractical to design for when 95% of the time it isn’t being used. More realistically, you could add a small engine up front and use it to supplement travel for longer trips. Call the car a Volt or something.

It’s group think ego. I’m in finance and I see it all the time. We lost a bid because we refused to go any cheaper. Our CEO’s opinion was “how could anyone do it cheaper than us” and “why would they?” All while I’m sitting in the corner saying.. yeah. ok.

I had a 95 red XE regular cab I traded in for a new 2001 Desert Runner Frontier. My brother had a 2001 4 cyl Frontier, and my mom had this 97 which I just sold last year. Nissan made a great truck. I would love a 4x4 hardbody but I can’t justify it. I loved that 95 and wish I never sold it.

I think it’s mainly because Porshe has just been using a flat six in the Boxster/Cayman/911 for such a long time, it just seems wrong not to. Flat six is almost synonymous with Porsche.
