That sucks. Around here, they cram about twice as many smarts as GLAs/CLAs into designated Car2Go street parking spots. No more smarts would mean less street parking for everyone...

Plus, the GM vans have a MUCH wider rear door opening!

That works out to about 7 G’s for the car itself. Not bad.

[ninja edit – disregard]

Indeed. As someone planning to buy an A6 next year, this is good news.

Not this one! It’s a China-market car that we also get here.

Every damn Civic driver around here can’t seem to figure that one out...

Right you are: electronic AWD systems (like on my XC90, also bought new by me, 175k kms so far) are more sensitive than the old-school, more mechanical stuff. Basically, regular tire rotations will keep things close enough, but if you have to actually replace one or more tires, you’re screwed without a road hazard

Except it isn’t false. All four tires need to have a reasonably similar amount of tread (except in very temporary situations, like driving with a spare on), else the AWD system gets messed up. Best-case, it can’t work properly. Worst-case, it breaks.

I agree – though I can see why someone would say flats don’t happen as often as they used to. Just this year, I had a screw in a tire twice: both times, I noticed it only because the part of the tire w/ the screw in it happened to be facing up when the car was parked. The tire never lost pressure, and they just pulled

They don’t come with jacks, but you could always buy one along with that extra wheel & tire!

Nope. For example, performance cars use non-runflats (guess why) and they come with an inflator kit and that repair goo in place of a spare.

I’m not sure a 320i or a Mini Countryman count as top line performance cars... An M3 or M4, on the other hand, do count, and they exclusively use non-runflats!

Why don’t you sell it? It’s now worth a ton more than you have into it, it’ll be put to good use, and you can use part of the proceeds to buy something that’s truly a piece of crap, even when running properly...

Nah, bro. FM radio has been “too mainstream” for a while now.

Now THAT’S what I call a GTD!

I agree the price is CP! My comment was more about the size: a Clio matches up with a Polo, instead of a Golf. I suppose if we were to apply the same formula to the Golf, it would have a W8 in the back...

Why mid-mount it when the Mk4 Golf already has a VR6 in the front?

Lengthy post, but I’ve got a lot to say about this business and would be happy to talk about it.

They fixed that problem long ago! Just look for the Stabilitrak badge on the rear cargo door.
