True! Even so, there are those who still treat a nice car as a nice car, even if its cost is peanuts for them.

Without a doubt! Or at least, it would be were there as many enthusiast cars in a given parking lot as there are luxurious rides...

I’m going with something everyone everywhere can see as a beater – think first-gen Saturn VUE with a burned-through cat.

Also true. That’s why it pays to be observant (i.e. parking job quality, taste of mods, other contextual stuff). But as a rule of thumb, you can’t go wrong by parking next to nice cars – it works.

I figured the tone would convey that we’re talking about a rule-of-thumb, but sure, we can get into specifics if you like...

I agree. If we get into specifics, there are many more factors at play: quality of parking job, expensiveness relative to the setting, taste of mods (if any), etc. Parking next to a clearly enthusiast-oriented car (say, a pristine FTO) is almost guaranteed to be a better bet than parking next to a 5-series.

There’s another side of it, too – even if it’s cheap for someone, they are still aware that it’s a nice car, and treat it as such. Parking by a nice car is a safer bet for sure.

Except that’s not how it works. When you can afford to drop $50k+ on a car, you are cognisant of what it took to get there, and how much it’ll cost if you’re careless all the time. Ergo, you are careful not to hit other cars.

I have! All I see in the Genesis are styling details I’ve already seen elsewhere. Plus, sitting in one after an Audi A6, you notice a difference b/w the two, and it doesn’t favor the Hyundai...

Unfortunately, you’re right. It’s a classic big business situation, in that they won’t make an investment if their products will sell the same without it.

Interestingly, their statement implies that the desire for new cars is enough to maintain business – that means building reliable vehicles won’t self-destruct profitability.

Serious question – is the problem b/c the factory intervals were too infrequent, or that new oil didn’t work well w/ the engine design?

That is exactly what needs to happen. Mandatory driving school for all, plus performance driving school being mandatory for performance cars. It makes so much sense, I almost wanna cry.

I’d have special divisions tackle all the higher licenses, and leave only the basic/lowest-level licenses to the DMV.

By the sound of things, with proper training, he wouldn’t be tailgating you in the first place!

There were definitely lots of colors (my dad’s was red hehe). Basically, the only ‘options’ were color and trim level – he says it was “grab the one you want before someone else does” hehe

Ah, the Zastava 128 was based on the Fiat 128 (i.e. not the Fiat 124/Lada 1200 in the article). The one in my pic is a Zastava 1300, yet another Fiat design unrelated to the other two.

Is the Zastava this one?

I look at it this way.

I would agree – BUT, this is a billion times better than the classic tow method, where the driver physically breaks into your vehicle to lower the e-brake.
