At the very least, though, the guys with LIDARS are actually able to run driverless (in good weather, in a geo-fenced area, with support drivers “on-call”), but still, that’s like 10x further than Tesla is right now.

Except the guys with LIDAR aren’t any closer to real world self driving either. Everyone is 10 years away (or more).

Maybe the solution is to have bigger vehicles that can carry more people in one go through the tunnel. If it’s really high volume, maybe link the larger vehicles together in a chain so that they all travel at once all at the same speed.
