Was the artist that left the character artist or the UI artist? I could see the problem with the character artist leaving, that’s the face of the game. That UI and the scenes though... May have done them a favor (as backhanded it may be).

Also note that if you are going quickly into an area where there are far less pokemon spawning, the “nearby” pokemon will usually remain on the list, even though you’ve already left the area. If you close the app and reopen it, it will update with a more accurate list.
