It’s interesting how in the USA tobacco and alcohol are prohibited from advertising/sales to kids, but sugar and unhealthy foods are totally fine. Unhealthy food causes more deaths than smoking. I’m all for restricting advertisements for unhealthy foods.

KC has an adult obesity rating of 35% compared to average 35% in all Missouri. But I do agree with wealth playing a factor as there are studies that people in poverty have higher obesity.

People in the midwest do eat them on the regular. Unfortunately it’s probably also a major reason Iowa has the 7th largest obesity rate in the US at 35.3%.

There are roughly 30-50 million lactose intolerant Americans. I don’t think many people are buying dairy free ice cream for health benefits.

My wife is vegan so sometimes I buy vegan foods for her. Ben and Jerry’s is by far the best out of all the non-dairy ice creams. Caramel Almond Brittle is the best out of the non-dairy flavors. I’ll have to give the new flavors a try.

Tax rates change frequently where I live. They have changed 4 times in the past 7 years.

I wouldn’t expect taxes to be included on the menu price because taxes can change frequently.

I understood the article. Why wouldn’t the restaurant just add 3% to all the menu prices? Why are they making the customer calculate the price of their dinner by searching the menu for surcharges?

So why doesn’t the restaurant just add 3% to all the menu items?
