The PS is a good point (especially since electric actually makes some good sense for Pony/Muscle Cars— the type maximizes the one of the real benefits of electric— off the line torque; and minimizes some of the driving drawbacks (weight, weight distribution). 

Wait- how is this not the “ST” thing you addressed, hell it’s actually worse-- this shares little to nothing with a Mustang regardless of powertrain-- it’s like if Porsche had launched the Cayenne as the 911 XTrek. 

This. Hell you can even make a decent argument that electric actually makes more sense for Pony/Muscle Cars than it does for most options- tons of off the line torque, etc.

Very, very few of the objections are due to it being electric, the vast bulk are because it isn’t a Mustang it’s a crossover-- put a good electric drivetrain in a Mustang body and people will eat that shit up.

And I’m not even opposing an E-Mustang, given the positives of electric, it’s actually really well suited to Pony/Muscle cars- tons of immediate straight-line power off the line and the drawbacks in weight distribution, etc are less off an issue than they’d be a in a sports car.  But this isn’t an electric…
