The one upside of Bernie arguing for say nationalization is that it allows all of the actual contenders to triangulate off of it and dunk on him. In terms of actually helping him secure the nomination it’s not helpful in any way shape or form.

Just throwing this out here but even outside of the political context nationalization of industry is pretty much a non-starter in the US. Youngstown v. Sawyer in 1952 pretty clearly put that out of bounds and that was with what was almost definitely more anti-corporate court than we have now ruling in the midst of an

M4A is going to be a big bar to Union support- unless it’s optional. Why would workers who have literally sacrificed paychecks and pay oncreases to ensure access to Cadillac plans (Gold and Gold plus plans on the ACA lexicon) sacrifice them for a Medicare for All plan?

So Joe and Bernie are out for their son and wife respectively but Trump’s grifter kids are cool?

Sanders really, really needs to endorse Warren at some point in early 2020, he has a high floor of 10-15 percent but he also seems to have a ceiling on support that Warren doesn’t share-- if both run in the mid-teens then there’s no real lane for a progressive candidate to grab the nomination.

To be fair, it’s only slightly different than say USA Basketball-- the team is, and has been since any of the current players have been on it- overwhelming favorites in virtually every tournament they’ve entered much less any individual game at some point arrogance is less over confidence and more “a natural response

No. If they didn’t tell him how would he know who to give favors to?

Please, like he’d allow the hoi polloi in to his club’s without paying full freight... it’d just undercut the fee’s paid by foreign governments looking to spy and bribe.

Forrest did shit besides being born.

Bernie isn’t going to touch this unless he wants to get slammed on his wife going “Golden Parachute” with a college and getting a paid position with his campaign.

Sanders honestly needs to realize he’d have a better chance of accomplishing his policy goals by endorsing Warren but fat chance of that actually occurring at this point, it’s like somewhere around February 2016 he shifted from a single-issue candidate just running to bring much needed attention to economic inequality

Biden had a massive cushion and lost a good chunk of it; Sanders has a core of support similar to Trump’s in its devotion and invulnerability to outside events.

So....Are we saying all the Jane Sanders baggage is relevant then? Or are the failings of relatives only relevant to Biden?

Wouldn’t a more balanced relationship-- where the recording company for instance just sued every single artist who didn’t allow them to recoup their initial investment be even more exploitative though?

True but that literally is the company’s responsibility-- hence why they’re not selling her the rights at below market rates.

This- it’s the female equivalent of Trump showing up in a MAGA hat, polo, khakis and golf spikes.

That’s fair, I think the sticking point that none of us know is if the publisher chose his bid or if his bid was far and away the most lucrative.

She owns songwriting rights, and performance rights and gets fees from them, what she doesn’t own is publishing rights any more than an author can sign a book contract have a bestseller then re-release the book on their own.

This.  OTOH if they did offer her a chance to purchase the rights at the same price Braun paid it’s hard to see the fault on the part of the company-- they’re under no obligation to give her a discount and doing so while a nice story would have been financially irresponsible.

While I agree with y’all’s read on this I am interested if one of the other relatively obvious debate traps— Booker hitting Sanders on immunizing the Gun Industry from lawsuits-- will be covered in the same way should it happen.
