Meanwhile, VLC for iOS suspiciously missing from the iTunes app store. I really want that Chromecast support!

Local files do work in Windows 8.1. You have to use the —myip option and put in the IP address of your computer. Also have to turn off Windows firewall or open a large range of ports to let it through. Currently the port is chosen randomly but the author said he's going to add the ability to choose it.

Try installing via an elevated prompt (right-click cmd.exe, run as administrator). Watch the errors. It kept trying to download more packages from GitHub so I had to install Git, and add it to the Windows path (may have to log out and in before this works). Node added itself to the path in my case.

Bummer. Not working for me in Windows 8.1. Got it installed and it played Youtube videos just fine but nothing local. Just seems to be stuck in a loading loop. I can see the file name on the TV with a progress bar but otherwise nothing. I was really looking forward to that playlist functionality.

Still waiting for Chromecast support in iOS. Anyone know an ETA for that?

Was pleased to find the cheaper Kreg system at Lowes a couple months ago and now find myself using it more and more. One of the best recent purchases I've made. I've built a fence gate, barn door, and more with it since, with nary a drop of glue. Lowes also has the screws if you run out and don't have time to order.

Being a huge Halloween fan, this is one of my favorites, though it hasn't been updated in a while. Lots of interesting ideas for the spooky season. I've also found Pinteret useful for yard design ideas, especially if the pin leads back to a how-to article.

Maybe eventually, when they get more participating locations. For now, TapHunter has many more locations and local craft brew is well represented. At least in San Diego.

What city was this? Someone said San Diego but that's not how our barges are set. Someone else said New York but that doesn't look like their skyline.

I don't get the Windows 8 hate. Without a doubt it is quicker and more efficient than 7. When I first installed it I didn't want to change my workflow so I configured my desktop to look and work exactly like my Win 7 setup. As I played around with the Start Screen I found it more and more useful, to the point

Edit: Sorry uthor1981, must have clicked the wrong reply button, thought I was commenting on the main article.

I pretty much only keep shortcuts on my desktop but from time to time, when I'm working on something, i'll create a fence and drop temporary files in it. A simple double-click on the desktop and they all disappear, just in case I want to tidy up when bringing a girl home. And by girl, I mean r/gonewild. Sigh.

Stardock Fences, 'nuff said.

Yup! I'm a hoarder. I actually have my first PC in it's original box. A 486 Compaq Presario, in perfect condition, restored to factory settings, and including all documentation. Also have the monitor and printer that came with it. Probably should send em to a museum?

This could be handy in that I have numerous disposable emails I use for signing up at sites. Now I can at least use the + modifier plus rules to separate replies from those sites into their own inbox. Should make it a bit easier to scan through them before deleting. Even if the spammer removes the modifier it simply

Correct. I was going to build a planter out of them for my herb garden but a little research show that's not a good idea. Chemicals can leach into the soil. If you build something where your skin is going to come in contact with them it's a real good idea to seal them.

I just finished the foundation for a shed I'm going to build out of pallets, based on this design. Picture below.

If you are a Halloween nut like me you may be interested to know some online stores are trying to start an Orange Tuesday thing where they offer discounts on costumes and other goods.

Did this last year for Halloween, but set up so people outside could see the projection.
