So Justin, the basic problem is they didn't have any extinguishers. CO2 or Halon would've done the trick. Fire hose, not so much.

What kind of idiot tries to put out a gasoline fire with water? they had the hose there from the beginning so they obviously thought something might happen but they didn't think deep enough as to whether water would actually do anything.
@Christopher Buttner: Bravo (and this is coming from a dog owner). Pick up after your damn dog.
@TheAntiCat is smoking cat-nip whilst playing 21.: I'm not convinced he remained calm for much longer. I think he spotted them at the end when the camera cut off. I'll bet that's when the little f-ers ran giggling like the little ass-wipes that they are.
@duurtlang: I'll be called a traitor and a communist but I wish we'd embark on a substantial, incremental gas-tax increase. We could use the money to pay for our oil-driven "foreign policy" (wars), subsidize public transit, and development of energy sources that doesn't involve sending huge sums of money to countries…
@evoCS: This has been great fun. Check this out. I didn't even know someone built the next gen GTV into a group 5 car! here it is duking it out with a Monza (see Lee's later post)
@evoCS: GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
@Bonhomme7h2: I like it with the ducktail and bigger flares even better.
@evoCS: Ha! We are on totally the same wavelength. I just couldn't remember whether Group 44 ran the XJS's in the 70's. I was going to post their TR8 but it didn't run until 1980.
@evoCS: I was looking for that one too. Group5 box flares make everything better! (and shooting flames help too)
@buffcoat and beaver: Well, NART ran some pretty nice Daytonas too.
@All Jimal wants for Christmas is a star: I'd promote this if I could.
@rawtoast: Amen! The birth of ground effects! (well, ground effects that weren't created by a fan , like the can-am Chapparals) Beautiful, fast, and technology that forever changed racing.
@Zer0OrDie: Gas is back up around $3.30 here in Philly and we're not even close to the summer 'driving season'. Last time gas crept up near $4 people were suddenly selling their beloved giant SUVs for massive losses and there was a huge waiting list for a Prius. No matter how plain or uninspired they may be, I think…
@accipiter: +1.
