The hippie movement was always self-centered, not genuinely altruistic - about wanting to enjoy sex, drugs, rock-n-roll, and not having to be drafted. Any moral component was mere pretext for boomer self-interest. In that sense the reagan era was merely a continuation of boomer selfishness, not a reversal.
