I see where you're coming from, but if that's the goal, then I think it's too showy. Or, rather, there's plenty of pretty damn kinetic samurai action, it just tends to be very efficient in its composition. There might be a lot of motion, but there's not a lot of action. Turning it into more of a battle of wills would…
I'd never think of "Killed by App games,' but it might be accurate. Zoo/Rollercoaster Tycoon always sat somewhere between what we would now think of as the casual gamer market and the regular gamer market, a bit too intensive for the former and a bit too simple for the later.
Minecraft.
As much as I scoffed at it when I heard of it, I think that Sims 2: Seasons was my clear favorite expansion for Sims 2, and probably my favorite expansion for the series overall. It shocked me how much such a simple thing added character to the game.
Important note regarding Fitocracy - still not entirely open to public.

Redoing the light saber battle in ANH. Yes, it stands up on its own, but yes, it's pretty dry, even by ESB standards. Needs more informing from the battle in RoS, and slightly less of a "I can commit suicide by Sith now that the kid's here!".
It's the distinction between, say, WoW and Planetside. It's not the view that what's determines things, it's what skills mean.
The problem, I think, is that it would probably work better as an MMOFPS.
Well? Isn't that the way it should be?
It's not dissimilar from an action movie. Stunts don't set up themselves, and a lot of time and effort goes into the camera work, or raw number of people involved both on and off the screen. That's what makes it 'big and dumb,' rather than just a bad movie, or a bad game.
Armed with the right paperwork, the companies give a new password and allow someone to close up shop. But if its from your secret life, it goes on until billing gets canceled or the website goes down.
Short answer: no, it's not all that bad. Hope springs eternal. But, as noted, it went from a 'likely to buy' on my imaginary list to 'not likely at all to buy.'
Very well said. The only thing I'd add would be to include that the trailer shows why zombies are so tragic: namely the "anyone can become one" quality that forces impossible choices and tragic betrays. There's also something that setting a zombie game on an vacation spot also reinforces in terms of how simple it is…
This is one of the reasons why I'm so interested in Project Zomboid. [projectzomboid.com] All the wacky crafting, but with lots of deep mechanics to represent things like sanity and emotional well-being...as well as making other survivors some of your primary threats.
As much? Probably not. But still complaining? Yep.
First XCOM? First Fallout.
Kinda. Like a lot of breakout, genre-defining games, part of its quality comes from the fact that it is defining the genre, and not necessarily from the absolute quality of the game. But it's really damn playable, that much is sure.
I prefer Contaku.
