If Rachel has always felt like a white woman trapped in a black woman’s body, is it for us to say that she’s “lying”?

So, what we’re saying is that it’s absolutely not ok for anybody to have a sense of humor about their job. Great. People do realize that it’s ok to laugh still, right? Hello? Right?

I don’t think she’s trying to downplay her strength, I think she’s is trying to counter the perception that she’s a robot devoid of human feels. Being a strong woman and being perceived as maternal are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Well, I’d say it’s at least dishonorable to sleep with somebody else while in a relationship, lie about it, and then try to get child support for one of them from the wrong person, but what do I know? I’m not sure this fits as slut shaming.

Which is what the judge here certainly will be doing. Not sure why there’s a thought that this will be “fodder for the legal books.” It’s simply and straightforward, and the addition of the two-fathers thing actually complicates the underlying issues so it’s not helpful to learn doctrine. I guarantee this will be in

because few judges have had to assign child support to two men in a case of a mother with twins

She obviously has mental health issues, but damn. That's awful.

It’s really fucking scary when you think about it. A commenter a couple responses up posted a story about an ex cop who pulled a gun on a shoplifter. A shoplifter. And people thought it was a good thing.

Charged with profane swearing? By the ABC? Isn’t that a little outside of their scope? Also: Is this the fucking town in Footloose?

It should absolutely be higher, but I’d happily accept “treat them the same as everyone else” at the moment. It’s much, much higher bar than they currently face.

You’re right. A HIGHER standard.

A higher standard. Just like some want to keep them on a hero pedestal, any fall from there, should have graver punishment, given the power and level of abuse, not to mention complete disregard for their positions.

Along with an uptick in “wrongful imprisonment” I’d like to see officers charged with “brandishing”, “assault”, “assault with a deadly weapon/firearm” for situations like the one with the young woman mentioned in the write up.

Could you imagine if we handled other non-violent crimes like this? I’d love to see what would happen if the police started being this aggressive about insider trading or something like that.

YES. I don’t understand how a investigation can be put forth and show that they committed a crime and yet they aren’t charged with a crime. It should be anyone that commits a crime gets booked, and goes to trial and jail regardless of their job.

Sounds like some of the people on Facebook who feels like the DA’s office didn’t have enough evidence to charge the 6 BCPD officers involved in Freddie Gray’s death. We don’t have all of the faaaaacts. Of course, these are the same people who assumed that Freddie Gray was some super dangerous, clearly armed, kingpin

Virginia ABC officers are absolutely terrifying thugs. I have no doubt that minorities get the worst of it but I even know a couple of white sorority girls who have stories of being accosted outside of stores selling alcohol by ABC officers. In both cases they were plainclothes in an unmarked car (so they did not look

So according to the Virginia legal code, it is illegal to file false charges (class one misdemeanor,) so shouldn’t these officers be prosecuted?

My husband has always maintained that the various types of law enforcement professions self-select for a particular type of individual; that is, people who are prone to seeing the world in a hierarchical arrangement in which their position is inherently and justly higher than that of criminals/suspects/perpetrators,

Perhaps criminal assault charges would be in order for those agents?
