I agree with the 944 - I have the n/a version - the clutch replacement is a 20 hour "book time" job and involves removing everything behind the flywheel and in front of the transaxle.
@etufte252: I'll bet you could get an RF or IR receiver for an Adurino and hook it up to a Harmony remote. Set it up with a relay, turntable, and sensors and you're good to go.
@Gerardo.Zamudio: I much prefer CDs to physical media. If you listen to enough music you can tell the difference between an MP3 and a FLAC file ripped from a CD. Plus, no DRM.
C'est ne pas une oil painting.
This has my vote for the new blogger... First one I've read where I didn't know it was a top car blogger post until after I've read it.
@comodidit: The cheap ones aren't worth their weight in salt. They get a lot of false positives and a lot of missed radar activity. Fortunately, however, most law enforcement agencies worth a damn use LIDAR and a motorcycle is tricky to hit with LIDAR. The only place to hit is the headlight and you can get a clear…
@Reed Simpson: DD-WRT is where it's at. All my wireless problems went away when I replaced the Linksys firmware with DD-WRT in my E3000. Good QOS rules doubled the speed of my CLEAR internet too!
@rathat: if they don't protect their wireless, their router probably doesn't have a password either. Replace the firmware with DD-WRT on there and up the antenna power.
I made a 12 foot by 12 foot green screen like this for a class project about a year ago - for lighting, I use those cheap work lights with a clamp on them form home depot and various wattage of CFL bulbs. So long as they're all the same color temperature, you can adjust minute color imperfections in editing.
This is not new information... The major film libraries are trying to digitize, but to do it correctly takes a lot of time and TON of money. For example, they scoured the globe for prints for the blu-ray edition of Metropolis and after years of searching, found footage that had been lost for 70 years... in Argentina…
@chrisaroz: The bottle will float in the water... sand is for weight.
What is with Lifehacker's obsession with Ikea? Yes, It's cheap and throw-away-able if you rent, but it's just not furniture that will last. You'll end up spending more money replacing Ikea crap every few years than you would just buying quality furniture that will last.
As a trailer salesman, I endorse this message.
@xxthepatientxx: wash with one cup ZEP degreaser concentrate, one cup Simple Green concentrate, one cup bleach and regular detergent. That combination got black oil out of a dress shirt. Front load washers remove stains much better than top washers.
@cha0tic @RGLarson: I second the Alcohol comment. I bartended for a few years across the street from a few big firms and that seems to be the culture. Work your ass off, drink a lot to relax, sleep, do it again....
@edtv82: This is an image from Burning Man taken my John Tupper, used w/o permission (don't tell on me).
@indranil1703: A lot of them, like Canonical (Ubuntu) and the MySQL team get funding from support for businesses. They release the software for free and then have people pay to have support.
@andrew11: I'm with you. I keep a copy of that pamphlet behind the foam in the lid of my camera case at all times.
As far as trucks go, I've noticed that U-Haul really beats their fleet into the ground. I recently moved with Penske and got a truck with less than 20,000 miles on it. The last U-Haul I got had over 200,000 miles on it. I have heard good things about the other major truck rental companies as well.
