Imagine that the initial anger you felt keeps popping up. You don't choose it, or want it, but it is an emotion that you have a hard time throwing out or even putting it away in a mental box. I think it depends on the person how many times a week it pops up and for how long.

This is somewhat comparable to telling a depressed person to just think positive. People that hold grudges are not happy fluffy bunnies while the grudges are replayed in their mind over and over, but it is very hard to switch off the projector.
