Right-- when something drops all at once, the “cultural conversation” tends to also be one hot burst.  You either binge it all and talk about it ALL RIGHT NOW, or watch it later and then no one is talking about it.  Weekly episodes gives that conversation a chance to grow and breathe.

True, you don’t HAVE to binge it. But the point is that by dropping weekly (or at some rate), the show builds momentum and seems to get more notice. That is generally good for the health of the show. And as a viewer, even though I don’t have to binge it, all the spoilers are out there from the start.

Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (aka James S.A Cory) will almost certainly finish if GRRM can’t.... they are established authors with a successful track record (of sales and delivering books on time) with existing ties to GRRM

It’s been so long since the last eps, I also need to catch on this last season, and I’ve already seen all the eps!

Nikki Haley came across as the most competent of the candidates on many issues, which is kind of like saying that skin cancer is one of the more manageable of the cancers.

I think it was inevitable. The movies haven’t been a total wash, but none of them seemed to become enduring successes like the Marvel films. Maybe the same relationship as farmer to barn cats? Not exactly domesticated but useful in keeping vermin down so allowed to stay. Pretty common for someone to adopt a closer relationship to a certain barn cat too.
