I think are correct to put a good chunk of the blame on the dealer's shoulders. I am sure that the nice models are what bring people in to the lots. It's just that there isn't a bare-bones 'stripper' trim level car that some people need stuck in the corner anymore.

Sounds like that Impala might have been a fleet car. Not something most can walk in off the street and buy new. The distaste for the bare-bones Impala just proves the point even further. Want a car with some options, buy a used higher end model. What a shiny new car, fresh off the lot, get force fed silly options that

Sorry, I guess it's based on a stretched version of the Vectra B platform, not the Omega. How similar are the two platforms? I just remember looking at a Catera and a sedan L series next to each other years ago and noting way to many similarities.

How about they start offering more "Biscayne" cars? That is, same thing as the Impala, just with 1/4 the frills. New, entry level cars DO NOT need back up cameras, MP3 control, 17's on econoboxes, LED's EVERYWHERE, etc and etc. Can you even buy a car anymore off the lot (read as: not special order) that has JUST a

What was he fiddling with on the steering wheel as he approached the main straight, (around 7:15)? Aero adjustments?

Lets not forget the black sheep of the GM family, Saturn and its lovely L-series:

Yea, you did not say that. I have just seen it referenced here on Jalopnik a few times recently. Being a Samurai owner among other things, I am more susceptible to getting annoyed when half-truths are spread as fact about one of my vehicles. As far as the handling goes, if by 'wet noodle' you mean 'small SUV' then yes

Being a Samurai owner, I have heard them all. They get old, especially with most being completely out of left field.

Why does everyone say it was based on the Samurai? It was based on the Tracker/Swift, the Samurai's younger, more modern and powerful IFS-equipped brother. Trackers did not suffer from the (largely fabricated and exaggerated) roll-over issues that the Samurai was plagued with, so the upside down jokes are just out of

How is the Samurai a joke? The whole roll-over thing?

While I totally agree, but to me, it also appears to me that the bike hit a bump mid corner? You can see it start to lean into the turn, then bump (car next to it acts the same). The driver tries to react to the suspension oscillation, but one or more passengers to react by siting up/counter lean, and then all hell

Did they not make a 'sport' package though? I have seen them with Porsche esque whale tail spoilers and hood vents?

We also have an 07 Dark Ming Blue Metallic ION Redline. Unfortunately not a Comp pack though. Absolutely love the car, and don't understand the hate? Looks better than the Cobalt SS coupe in my opinion.

...All the S series had a 1.9...The blocks are all nearly identical.

This doesn't make sense. So by that logic you are saying it's dumb to take a cheap, older vehicle and modify it? That's kinda what we do...

Now, hating people who do the kinds of things like the picture you posted, that I can fully agree with.

I agree. I plan to do it on my Mk1 MR2. With different headlight housings for 'correct' light output. It looks cool when done right, and should create less drag when they open up.

As a life-long Omaha resident, I visit Lincoln regularly. I agree with the open and friendly atmosphere, though I don't feel that Omaha is that much different. Check out Empyrean Brewing Co. while you're in the area.

Yes, I would, provided the fun factor is high, the monetary investment is nice and low, and there is not a crap given about rust. Case in point, my 88 Suzuki Samurai.

or race the RWD Caprice?

Yea but he's dead.
