This is face-palmingly pedantic of me, but the entire critique here is of Simmons and his shtick, not his writing. If his “desperate need for an editor” were finally satisfied, his columns wouldn’t be his columns any more. I think you don’t dislike his writing as much as you just dislike him (which is, my god, totally

Immediately after the game, Daniel Murphy requested a few days off from the Mets so that he could bond with little Kolton.

This is a tough break for Trevor Noah.

Barry: are you saying that you object to the DoD recruiting young men and women to serve in our armed forces? Or that you object to it being done in a less than forthright way while helping to line the pockets of NFL owners? If it’s the latter, then fuck yeah, I am right there with you. But the former? What’s wrong

“We Are. ASSHOLES.”

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I hereby pledge not to watch any Liberty games until Dolan takes responsibility for this reprehensible decision and fires Isiah Thomas.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THAT IS FUCKING HILARIOUS BRO. GOOD ONE. But seriously, best of luck next year.”

What a strange, worthless exercise.

Not to be a whiny little bitch, but you guys are awfully hard on the Mets. Don’t get me wrong, they deserve it. A search on the Deadspin tag “New York Mets” produces a timeline of ineptitude, failure and abject sadness capable of reducing even the most die hard fan to a puddle of orange and blue. But this team

+1. pitch perfect.

The Knicks aren’t going to be able to help themselves. They will definitely pay him too much to come play alongside Carmelo for two or three (or, god help me, four) years and it will be an unmitigated disaster. Maybe the Knicks could find a way to throw in their first-round pick to get him. /blows brains out

Visiting teams are eagerly awaiting next year’s visits to the Islanders , when they will be showered with $16 craft beers and a side of kale chips with agave hummus rather than this cheap domestic swill.

eyes closed, don’t boot

Yeah, because Colon, Scherzer, DeGrom and Zimmerman all pitched really, really well in those two games. There was basically no offense last night or Monday. It was also freezing and raining for most of last night’s game, resulting in an ample strike zone. Today will be a quick one, too (Harvey-Strasburg).

Shocking; certainly the last place one would expect to find John McCain and Bob Corker.

For everyone jumping all over Greg for this being “misleading” or denying Rice a chance at “redemption,” go and read the two articles. Greg is — quite correctly — pointing out what an utter farce it is that reputable(?) magazines will so willingly swallow this tripe from the Rice rehabbers and then vomit it back up

Are these number right? Why the drastic time split on the run for men as opposed to women? Reasonable distinctions to account for gender differences seem fair to me, but this is egregious, no? A 10.5-minute mile for women and an 8.5-minute mile for men?
