If that’s the case, then I don’t begrudge them for using it. Hashtags are fine when, IMO, if people choose to use them. When public entities create them I find it hollow. Like a temporary Facebook icon used after a tragedy.

No disrespect to young man, but fuck the school for making a hashtag. The internet could’ve hashtagged his name, no need to “create” “social engagement” with something like this.
