Someone upthread got a note that they think was from him in response to FB. But given the ridiculous shit some of our politicians actually say, you know, in public, I'm a little puzzled over why people think he might not have believed this was a true article.

This seems to be the new line on the whole debacle. But everytime I mention it, someone posts "no, PP's media saavy is amazing." I think it can simultaneously be true that PP has an amazing organization and that thousands of former Komen supporters/PP constituents were upset at this revelation of the organizations…

ABSOLUTELY. I had Handel and what she stands for with the heat of a thousand suns, but people need to stop acting as if somehow Handel single-handedly turned SGK in this direction. Cutting off PP was part of the damn interview process for her job.

Evidently, they did have a consultant in the search for Handel—Ari Fleischer—and he got them exactly what they wanted: an anti-science right winger who would happily find a way to separate SGK from Planned Parenthood.

I don't want to beat a dead horse, but this brings me back to an earlier HuffPo article about this debacle that framed it as innocent SGK outdone by PP's more sophisticated media team.

One of my friends Dad's used to do that when we were in high school. We thought it was embarassing until a new teacher who hadn't yet gotten "the visit" started being verbally inappropriate with her.

Actually, some of the wingnuts are up in arms about this, but their tactic has been to target doctors who perform abortions and the try to get abortions excluded from medical curricula.
