shit mang get them diamonds

Well, I just did a quick census of the common room in my dorm building, in an art school with no actual science classes. 8 out of 9 people, ages 18-22, said dinosaurs had feathers. The argument that "99% of movie goers will be confused by feathers" is a stretch, and not admissible anymore. I'd posit that at least 60%

Oh I don't disagree with him necessarily. My écorché wasn't the best. I was just mildly annoyed by this shitty arm being described as beautifully crafted, almost immediately after the professor told me mine sucked.

Beautifully crafted? It looks like it was molded with a dishwashing glove.

this is such a good reaction gif though

Well. It's got Zachary Quinto in it so I'm watching.

Same here. I had to hide from my friends for a few seconds.

My eyes might have gotten a little foggy when I saw this on the Marvel site. It's been a long goddamn wait and ugh I'm so fucking excited!

That's a good argument! I didn't necessarily disagree with you before but I agree with you more now. You've actually made me think (mostly unrelated to the thread topic) that maybe our nonsensical pop culture is why the counter-culture has been sort of bringing back absurdist humor.

You're kinda proving my point, though. Everyone knows that these celebrities are fake. No one is really all invested in how genuine they are. You, Pickletron the individual, are not wholly unique in your observation that Kim K is famous for being famous and having a big ass. Pretty much everyone is aware. There's no

I mean, have you really been paying close attention? The pictures were taken by Jean-Paul Goude, they're a recreation of an earlier shoot he did in the 70's with Grace Jones. Those earlier pictures were for a book called Jungle Fever.

I have seen it. My mom thought it was a perfectly OK movie to show her 10-14 year old kids. I was messed up for like a week, but now I love the movie.

I was talking about the original. And yeah, you can interpret their intent that way. But the effect and the spirit of the picture is different from whatever its intent was (ostensibly, to "blow up the internet").

I'm all for picking apart our pop culture and making its statements BOLD and CREEPTASTIC but I can't help feeling that these are entry-level at best.

I agree wholeheartedly! But when a villain is played by an attractive man, the fandom tends to excuse and even look for justifications for his actions. See: Draco (the original leather pantsee), Loki, Hannibal.

I agree that the trend started before the Manara cover. It did not come out of the blue. Runaways, Nextwave, Black Widow... you can trace the lineage of women with agency in comics all the way to Wonder Woman. But comics catering to women, or at least made with the consideration that women would form a large part of

As excited as I am to see him go full evil, I'm a lot less excited to see the fandom leather-pantsing the Purple Man.

I like that there is no argument over whether or not Reed is a villain.

A nocebo might not necessarily be more humane, but it could be way cheaper!

Someone recommended one of my posts in this thread and I was reading it and saw that I never replied to this last message. Normally I'd just forget about it, but I thought it'd be interesting to revisit this subject after so much has changed in comics.
