In which Epic tries to get the kids all worked-up against one of the few things fellow mega-corp Apple has done well — setting up a walled garden to prevent shady app developers from allowing in-app purchases with no quality control or protections. But don’t worry, they’ll say it’s really about the 30 percent cut

I would even go so far as to say that holding the $60 price point has made games more accessible to the masses, and is why we’ve seen the continuous growth in the market. I would say the $60 price point has been critical to the success of gaming. If you think that 400K of PS4s sold have been in India, and you look at

Not to mention all the milking they added. Dlc, season pass, micro transaction. Cod like NBA 2k will be full of this crap, so they better not rise the price

Companies argue that they’ve been $60 for too long, but the amount of copies they sell now vs the amount of copies they sold 15 years ago is astronomically different. Studios still make an absolute killing at the $60 entry point, more now than they did before. So yeah, they should still be $60.

I have said it before and Ill say it again:

Why do their fans need to be engaged with their financial legal battle?

Because Epic is clearly in the wrong here? They have no legal case and they’ve used all sorts of scummy tactics in order to put pressure on Apple. This whole thing is one big PR stunt that exploits their naive Fortnite fan base. On top of that, they are quite possibly the most hypocritical company I’ve ever seen. I’m

It’s not about installing a distribution client, it’s about not giving money to people I disagree with.

But customers don’t deserve a choice in platform? Why should that be? Why do companies deserve more than actual people do?

Well, they won’t be getting it from me. I would have purchased it on release, now I guess I’ll be skipping over it.

I’m not big on Epic but thought it was a positive for them to challenge Apple this way. However the video statement/trailer or whatever the hell that is really soured my opinion on the situation. That they had a lawsuit prepared for the inevitable retaliation from Apple was a prudent step (though I question what legal

So, there’s this scene in The Two Towers where the orcs begin murdering each other over whether to eat the Hobbits alive or bring them to Saruman, who will torture them to death.

I’m certainly not taking this personally, although I am very appreciative of Ono and I think you’re misunderstanding the importance of his contributions to the genre.

I’d like to see any corroborating evidence of your claim that SFVI was due out next year or that Ono had any culpability in issues with its development process. As far as I know, the game has not been publicly acknowledged to exist, nor have there been any reliable leaks about it - certainly no indication of the

I mean, fighting games are generally not meant to be single-player experiences. They can be great for lore-building - Guilty Gear is excellent at this - but it’s not really meaningful to say that “the competitive scene” is what keeps fighting games alive, because the competitive scene IS what fighting games ARE.

Are you seriously trying to pretend that the most popular avenger would not be in an avengers game unless sony came to the rescue?

that content wouldn’t exist for anyone

The thing is, video games *should* cost a LOT less to develop today (and do, but will come back to this). Each team doesn’t have to build their own engine, physics are well-understood and don’t require figuring it out from scratch, and all the support infrastructure exists and is well-established (VO studios, MOCAP

It’s also interesting reading comments where somehow loving something also equates to bending over backwards towards the thing you love. Not everyone wants an abusive relationship.
