I largely agree. I think South Park goes in with the goal of treating extremists as qualitatively different from the “moderates” of those sides. I think they’ve always been more interested in critiquing narrative/irrationality than the fundamentals of that group’s ideology or goals.

I think when it is your side being

You two seem to be forgetting something... the burden of proof MUST be on the accuser. That is part is the whole innocent until proven guilty. I understand that in your world that may not be comfortable. However it is a necessary part of our world. We don’t convict people just based on someone’s accusation... well at

Its not that South Park is not funny, it’s that shit that was funny 10 years ago, is no longer ALLOWED to be funny in the society we live in. I’m actually shocked shows like south park, family guy, even rick and morty haven’t been taken off tv entirely due to someone getting offended over something ridiculous.

I think this whole “South Park sucks now because they’re telling people not to care about things” is a really shallow reading of Trey and Matt’s body of work. It’s never promoted the idea that caring about things is stupid, rather it focuses on the tenancy for people to let their initial concern for a reasonable cause

THIS is the real issue. Not this /r/iamverysmart crap about “white people humor.”

We’ve changed. South Park has always pushed the line, while more and more we back away from it.

I agree. The comedy focus of SP over the years has shifted from satirizing hypothetical responses to holding up a satirical mirror and telling people “this is what you look like”. Naturally most people don’t like what they see.

I actually think it’s the opposite?

South Park used to be about satirizing hypothetical extreme reactions people would have. Over the past few years (long before Trump became president) those extreme reactions became less and less hypothetical, and more and more common in reality. It’s hard for a show that’s been known to push the envelope to keep up

I would argue that they are making fun more of the absurdity and hypocrisy surrounding “people who care”. There is a difference between believing/supporting something and being a fanatic.

If you liked the Book of Mormon but don’t like South Park anymore, I’m extremely skeptical about the sincerity of any argument for the latter that isn’t “I don’t like it when they needle some of the absurd extremities people I agree with or sympathize with take their arguments to”.

I posted this during a discussion about this issue at the AVClub:

It’s true that the original trangressive slant of South Park worked better when we were lambasting regressive social norms, but now that norms have become more progressive it has served as fertilizer for conservative/regressive attitudes. Being

Jason, I’ve been reading your book, and it’s clear that a big part of game development involves deception. I’m sure developers consider it a necessary evil since they are constantly trying to get funding for their current and future projects, but they put no small amount of effort into spectacular (but unrealistic)

The choice of a service dog is based on the dog’s ability, not on its size. Actual service dogs go through years of training—-not just to meet the specific medical needs of the owner, but also training in being in public places, being around strangers and other dogs and remaining calm and “on duty,” reacting calmly to

Zero Mission was also released with little fanfare near the end of it’s console’s product lifecycle. It wasn’t a terrible game, it just didn’t have the marketing push that it needed in an age that didn’t have the internet.

/pol/ is. /fit/ is a little bit. Most of the rest of the site just tells them to fuck off back to their containment board when they try to bring their bullshit into threads that should have nothing to do with politics and race.

I think some people saw the GBA games as spinoffs or cheap tie-ins to the main Prime series. Also, I think ZM came out not long before the DS killed off the GBA? Might be wrong there.

What if you think the single most important cause is that I’m male & you’re female, but I really just had a shitty night’s sleep & would be taking my lack of caffine out on anyone, and you just happen to be there?

Ok girls, listen up. This is how you deal with mansplaining...

I’m so old dude. Old as dirt, I made $.35 an hour in my first full time job. That’s $20 a week with overtime. People talked down at me, and not just men, women, in fact, were the absolute worst.
