I think Dead Space 1's linearity would be perfect for this. Set goals, areas unlocking as you progress with some exploration/back tracking.
I think that the explanation for Jon and "what happens" will come from Bran's point of view. I don't see them giving Melisandre or Stannis a view point. Which really only leaves Bran as the character who would be able to narrate what happens to him.

I'm curious as to how they will work "Zune Pass" into "Xbox Music". Currently on W8 the music app won't recognize any of the music you've downloaded through Zune Pass. :-S
