@Archaotic: Keyboard is fitting seeing how the inspiration for this is an MSX game. There's a whole generation of gamers who played Gradius, Castlevania, Metal Gear and dozens of other games using the keyboard. The only reason I owned a joystick on my MSX was for the second player to use.
