Yeah, “If I Ran A Zoo” is pretty bad. Sorry Ted Owens, but the book’s protagonist refers to people who “wear their eyes at a slant” and then he later points to a man who’s clearly drawn to be a caricature of a middle eastern “chieftain”and says he’s going to put the chieftain in the zoo along with the animals. The

I mean, “don’t yuck on someone else’s yum” is basic kindergarten manners.

Parks and Rec had the best ensemble, The Office had the most talented single cast member (Carell), 30 Rock had the best throw away one liner jokes...

1 in 5 men were members of the KKK less than 100 years ago.

Folks like Reagan denounced the KKK while quietly condoning and encouraging mild mannered suburban white racism, and oops, the mild mannered suburban white racists became the KKK.

I think the purity test shit would actually help democrats in 2018; but it would be absolutely terrible for the health of our government and our country as a whole.

Wait, I just remembered something from when I was 20 :(

Sometimes I’m glad I was the dorky kid who went to an all girls school and barely interacted with the opposite sex until college at which point I at least had the maturity to handle rejection with a little bit of grace.

If you are a full-time caregiver for your sister, mother, aunt, cousin etc, then I think it’s fine to include that role on a resume. Maybe not in the employment section, but somewhere; I have a section for my volunteer work on my resume. Why not? It’s work.

Hm, I’ve been staying home with my kids for the last 4 years and am job searching now that my younger one is starting preschool. I just put “freelance writer” on my resume because I HAVE done a bunch of freelance jobs. I haven’t been working enough for it to be the equivalent of any kind of full time job, but is

Elizabeth Banks forgetting The Color Purple was a telling lapse, but it’s not like Spielberg doesn’t deserve to get some shit. Amistad is like my go to white savior narrative movie example.

Guys, I’m ready for men to not be in charge of anything anymore.

It’s a weird coincidence that every time the issue is something this old white dude cares about then it’s a dealbreaker, and if you disagree you’re an establishment fake progressive. But if the issue is something women and people of color care about, it’s a distraction and fighting for it is divisive and unnecessary.

Eh, this show has issues, but the baby’s complexion didn’t bother me. I’m half black/half white, while my daughter’s only a quarter black/3 quarters white, and she looks blacker than I do. My son, on the other hand, looks like his name might as well be Chase.

“It made me think he’s in a bad place, like emotionally.”

I love California and I don’t want to live anywhere else, but I am worried that drought/climate issues will drive us out eventually.

I think his Obama connections would have helped him, if anything. Obama may be the devil to some conservatives, but he’s still popular with the majority of the country and I think he would have won a third term easy.

I think charisma is the more important factor though. It seems to be the one thing that gets people excited enough to vote. They won’t show up just based on shared beliefs or anything else.

I think Joe would have won because I’ve come to the conclusion that the presidency is clearly just a charisma contest. Nobody cares about policy or qualifications; is there any policy reason that explains why the people of Ohio picked Obama over Romney but Bush over Kerry? Demographics didn’t change THAT much. It’s

These republican leaders are disgusting. A white woman was the target, so of course this time it matters. None of the other times. Only now. They can never *never* pretend to give a shit about nonwhite people after this.
