If you got through SAO (first arc) then skipping to season 2 is not that big of a deal. Honestly there is a recap movie that you can watch to bring you up to speed if you want. On crunchyroll i believe.

Mmhm, it really becomes just as good in my opinion without actually retelling the same stoey over again. It becomes a really interesting character piece during GGO/ALO and it pretty much ditches all the things that were wrong with ALO.

This seems like a gun i would love if everyone on the map had the same gun and only that gun.

Oh man i cant not agree more on the romance being under written. The romance is literally the best. But its not the small romances, Asuna & Kirito's relationship feels genuine, and downright touching. Not the problem is, imo, making it so all the girls have an obvious affection to Kirito kind of seems tacked on…

I mean, its not though. Just because it has multiple people who dig the main protagonist doesn't mean its strictly a harem. Actually if it is a harem, its a really shitty one.

I really love SAO. I get alot of crap when I say ive never really loved an anime like i do SAO. It has flaws but it does some things that I feel like anime in general dont get right at all.
