They aren’t the biggest races, but Phinney’s solo wins in the Tour of California and the Tour of Poland were the kinds of wins only a small handful of guys can pull off. He was absolutely headed for greatness before the crash. I feel like we’d be discussing “two-time Roubaix winner Taylor Phinney” in the alternate

This, yes. And in his time there Fulham DID achieve a lot, largely thanks to the man himself. He effectively saved their spot in the PL in his first season. He was a major piece in 2008-09 when they finished 7th in the league and got a Europa League spot. Then he was key again when they had their crazy run in 09-10

I’m very curious what Mark Davis looks like without veneers, because presumably he looks somehow worse.

Thank you for writing this. Similar stories could be written in dozens of cities across the US. Someone is hit and killed, the first paragraph of the story in their local paper specifies whether the victim wore a helmet regardless of whether it would have helped them or not. Something a little more humanizing is a

Yeah that’s probably him. Also doesn’t it make sense that it’s higher? If you called a radio station pretending to not be yourself - a famous person - step one would be modulating your voice a bit.

When an NBA arena - or any arena - hosts an NCAA tournament game they configure it so that everything adjacent to the court is for media & staff (except cheerleaders on the baseline). Logistically this would work, since there are easily enough writers, photographers, broadcasters, etc. at any given game to wrap

The fan who gets most directly run-over seems to pull Lowry up and then pats him on the back a few times. What’s the prevailing wisdom on this - good fandom? Or is the rule just binary hands-to-yourself?

The final 60 seconds of this game deserves its own article. Hell, the final 15 seconds even. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen more hilariously inept basketball than what the Pacers did in that span. The Wesley Matthews 60-foot pass to the Celtics bench, followed by the “quick foul, whoopsie!”, followed by the

Farragut - that’s Kevin Garnett’s high school. Also, how nice for DePaul College Prep.

Hey, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Mark Jones and Hubie Brown never addressed the fact that Demar Derozan didn’t play at all in the 4th quarter and walked away from the Raptors huddle during all the late timeouts.

The two shot clocks on the basket are out of synch.

If you watched the full broadcast of this something very odd happened immediately after this HR: Dan Shulman asked David Ross if he’d ever hit an inside-the-parker. Ross explained that he hadn’t, but that one time when he was in San Diego he’d hit a triple that was the closest he’d ever come, and it required two guys

So very glad Haisley isn’t around to piss and moan about this.

Yeah - it’s pretty clear that our labor laws don’t apply to the NFL.

Let’s not miss the most important part of this story: His Peyton Manning (18) Colts jersey has Marvin Harrison (88) sleeves.

If it is confirmed that the FBI never had Miller on a wiretap discussing payments then that’s the end of Schlabach’s career as a journalist, right?

The pitties of Angell are a wonderful bunch.

Gus the very good dog.

Russ has every right to hate Beverly forever. The 2013 Thunder, unlike the 2017 Thunder, were legitimate title contenders and that ended with Patrick Beverly making the most Patrick Beverly play.
