nooope! If they latch it’s going to take a moment for you to realize it. It will feel like a normal itchy spot, except POW there’s a tick there when you go to scratch. I’m a hairy guy and when I worked at a camp I’d catch them crawling up my leg all the time, so stay vigilant if you think you’re in an area with them.
