I mean, Reed Richards is a condescending prick in all universes. Same with Professor X,. That’s kinda his thing. But I didn’t get that Captain Carter or Captain Marvel were pricks.

Three to four years? You expect the shareholders to wait three to four YEARS for their ROI?

“Zack is trying to do something very different here that really hasn’t been done in a long time. This isn’t an IP. This is an original story. It’s being created by hundreds, if not thousands of technicians. That’s a really bold thing.”

People keep thinking that making their own Star Wars means leaning heavily into the “wars”. Rebel Moon does it, The Creator did it. But what I want is for the next “my own Star Wars” is to leave the wars behind and instead lean into Henson/Froud-ness of it all.

It’s weird because you keep saying “bad” but this article is “disappointing”. Those are two different words that create two different expectations and two different analyses.

Marvels was odd in that it was better than its reputation suggests, but it’s also sort of hard to recommend. Like for all the hand wringing about the film* being homework, it mostly felt low-stakes. So mostly enjoyable for what it is, but hard to make a case for it as being totally worthwhile.

The thing with the Marvels is that I can’t actually say it was bad.

To be fair, I checked his comment history earlier and he does have at least one anti-trump/capitol riot comment.

Marvels was great. Much more fun and decidedly less convoluted than Captain Marvel. Khamala Khan is a lightning bolt of charisma. There were laugh-out-loud funny scenes, musical numbers, and a villain that actually had legitimate beef. I can’t understand the pillorying it’s getting. My thought after watching it was,

There’s got to be a way they can rework it so Gugu Mbatha-Raw can become the new Kang. She’s a great actress, and the end of Loki 2 was 95% of the way there.

As a CM fan, it’s because it wasn’t as big as the standard for Marvel movies as a whole. Yes it broke records, specifically for the director, but most people aren’t going to highlight let alone care about that because of their hate boner for Brie Larson. Marvel/Disney is actually very aware of the hate for Brie/CM

“Hey, techbros cosplaying as movie and TV producers: can we have another season of William Gibson’s The Peripheral, please?”

You are not. I think that this new trend is really gross and it’s a definite lowering of the bar for the privacy of known artists. I mean, maybe if foul play were suspected or something, but this is just too much. Unless the family wanted it released for some reason, then these kinds of details are just none of our

I was thinking this myself. I can’t think of a good reason why the public needs to know. If the family wants to release a statement, that’s fine, but I don’t think the public is owed anything.

I can’t blame people for being curious either, but that’s a separate thing.

Am I alone in feeling like it’s kinda weird that it’s become standard to release the autopsy results of famous people? Why is that anyone’s business besides the family and (maybe) the authorities?  I don't know that there's really an argument that this sort of info lands anywhere close to being public interest.

Missed opportunity to call this “Beverly Hills Cop : Axel AF”

By those criteria, yes. There’s no question that it’s the fourth best, but it’s much, much closer to third place than it is to fifth. The magical item works in a way that fits Indy’s world and avoids going off the rails, which it could easily have done.

I guess I’m in the minority, but this looks awful to me.

I’m having a similar reaction to this that I did the first trailer for Dial of Destiny.  I don’t expect it to be as good as the first one, as long as it’s not as bad as the last one.
