Valve region locks to Russia mainly. Almost everyone can get their games from elsewhere and still have them on Steam. Blu-ray region locking is nearly entirely over, only a small portion of companies do it anymore and region free blu-ray players are becoming commonplace.

As great as this sounds, I kinda don’t want to try this only because I already smell the ‘update fix’ inbound to undo this.

Financial reasons, that only Nintendo seem to be concerned about... and only until this generation of their handheld.

Regional pricing is the ONLY reason. Some regions have less favorable exchange rates and have pricing reflected as such. They also claim to fear that people buying out of region screws up their metrics for understanding if a game is worth releasing somewhere but I call bullshit on that.

Region locking should not be a thing. It should never be a thing. Fuck region locking.
